Pet Walk

Leaving

Delete your Pet Walk account.

Two minutes from inside the app, or one email if you have already uninstalled it. There is no waiting period, no tombstone profile and nothing kept back.

Pet Walk · Android app com.petwalk.app · Updated 6 September 2026

From inside the app

  1. Open Pet Walk and go to Settings — the gear on your profile.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
  3. Read the warning and tap Continue.
  4. Type DELETE — the app asks for the word rather than a second button, because none of this can be undone.

That is the whole of it. The app signs you out onto the login screen because there is no longer an account to return to.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Send us an email from the address on the account — that is how we know it is yours — asking for it to be deleted. Nothing else needs to be in the message.

Email support@petwalkapp.net

We reply to confirm, and the account is gone within 30 days — in practice within a few days. If you signed in with Google, write from the Google address you used. We do not ask why you are leaving.

What is deleted

Everything below goes at the same moment, permanently:

  • The account itself, and your email address and password
  • Your profile — name, photo, bio, city
  • Every dog you added: photographs, breed, description, traits, walking area
  • Every walk you posted, and every answer you gave to someone else's
  • Your stored position and your location-sharing settings
  • Every message you have ever sent, including ones in group chats other people are still reading
  • Your direct conversations, which disappear from the other person's list too
  • Likes you gave, and likes given to your dogs
  • People you blocked, and reports naming you
  • Every photograph you uploaded, removed from file storage
  • Your phone's push-notification registration

No copy is kept for analytics, no anonymised remainder, and no profile left behind under a placeholder name.

What survives, and for how long

Routine backups. Our hosting provider takes automatic backups of the database. Deleted data can sit in those for a short period until they are rotated and overwritten. It is never restored into the app and is not used for anything.

Email logs. If you wrote to support, that correspondence stays in our mailbox as ordinary email. Ask and we will delete it too.

What other people wrote. Messages sent to you by other people remain theirs — a conversation you were both in is removed from your side, and your half of it is deleted everywhere, but we do not delete another person's words from their own account.

Nothing else. There is no retention schedule beyond this, because nothing else is kept.

Uninstalling is not deleting

Removing the app from your phone leaves the account on the server exactly as it was — your dogs stay in other people's Discover decks and your chats stay in their lists. Use one of the two routes above instead.

Deleting one dog rather than the account

If you only want a dog off the app, open its profile and delete it there. Its photographs, likes and details go with it and your account stays. A single walk can be removed the same way from the walk itself.
